How To Install Vinyl Lettering

Vinyl Design Installation Instructions

(Local installation available in Greater Spokane, WA area for $10 per design)

Step 1: Prepare the design and surface
The vinyl may arrive in a roll to accommodate shipping, it makes it easier to work with if you flatten the design until it keeps its shape. Make sure your surface (wall or other item), is clean and dry.

Step 2: Position the design
Position your design on the wall as you want it to appear using painters tape to keep in place. Sometimes it helps to draw a line under the design or pencil in the center.  Doing this will not damage your design.

You may want to use a level and put a piece of tape on the wall first to help align your design. Reposition the sheet as needed until the design is level (or placed as desired). Words, letters, and art can be cut apart and positioned as needed.

Step 3: Create a Hinge
Run one piece of tape on the bottom edge of your design, creating a hinge.

Step 4: Peel away the backing paper
Using the tape as a hinge, flip down the design and pull away the backing paper. It usually works best to pull at an angle. Pull slowly, making sure the vinyl design releases from the backing paper.  If a portion doesn't release immediately, simply roll it back up and press it to the transfer paper.

Step 5: Adhere the image to the wall
Starting with the bottom of the design, slowly roll and press the design onto the wall. Be sure to press well on textured walls so that the vinyl adheres well to all the bumps.  Take a flat squeegee or credit card and rub the entire design to make sure every edge has adhered.

Step 6: Peel away the transfer paper
Bend back one corner of the see-through paper and peel it away slowly at a sharp angle. Occasionally the vinyl will want to stick to the application tape. Gently roll the transfer tape back onto the wall and press the vinyl to the wall in that spot again. Moving slowly will insure that you are able to get the whole design on the wall properly.

**For larger designs, sometimes it helps after step 3 to cut the design into several smaller sections.  Be sure to cut all the way to your tape.

Your vinyl can be removed from the wall with no damage to the paint underneath. Although it is removable, it is NOT reusable.  The vinyl is very flexible and stretchy and will lose it shape when removed.

To remove simply pick at one edge and start to peel off.  Sometimes it helps to heat with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive.
